NORTHERN SHAMAN
The Berserker's awakening
An initiatory journey into Norse shamanism.
INSTINCT IS POWER.
TRANCE IS A GATEWAY.
AWAKENING IS A CHOICE.
From the wild lands of the North comes the echo of an ancient legacy, long suppressed by the passing of centuries. A legacy born from the sacred bond between humanity, nature, and spirit. At the heart of it stands a figure both feared and misunderstood: the Berserker.
Northern Shaman – The Berserker’s Awakening is far more than a book. It is an initiatory guide, a living transmission of ancestral knowledge, and a powerful call to inner transformation.
Through a narrative that is both intimate and universal, Alexander Hansen, a passionate researcher of Nordic traditions, explores the true nature of the Berserker. Far removed from the caricature of a mindless, uncontrollable warrior, the Berserker emerges as an initiate—a master of trance, a warrior-shaman deeply connected to nature and to his inner animal.
As the modern world grows increasingly disconnected from its roots and instincts, this book reopens forgotten doors. By weaving together historical research, firsthand accounts, shamanic practices, and contemporary insights drawn from neuroscience, psychology, and anthropology, the author builds a bridge between ancient wisdom and today’s spiritual quest for grounding, identity, and inner power.
When trance becomes once again a tool for awakening, when instinct is no longer feared but recognized as a source of knowledge, a sacred path unfolds—demanding, raw, and profoundly liberating.
Within these pages, the reader is guided through the role of trance in the Berserker’s awakening, the spiritual bonds between Norse tradition and power animals, the path of Seiðr and the wisdom of the Völvas, as well as practical practices designed to reconnect with the primal self — all woven together with the author’s own raw and personal journey of awakening.
Northern Shaman speaks to those who feel the call to reconnect with their roots, awaken their life force, and walk a path where instinct is transformed into wisdom. An essential work for readers passionate about Norse mythology, pagan spirituality, ancestral rites, and deep inner awakening.
Answer the call of the North and unleash the Berserker within.

A Powerful and Initiatory Book on Norse Shamanism
"I am a 26-year-old völva from Poland, and I felt chills of energy just holding this book.
I had been searching for a work on Norse shamanism, and this book found me at exactly the right moment.
I feel deeply connected to the Nordic world on a soul level, and this book resonated with me immediately.
It is a true masterpiece on the ancient ways of Norse witchcraft, written in a way that modern readers can clearly understand and integrate. This book helps you step out of your shadow, master your craft and inner power, and become who you are meant to be. It came to me during one of the darkest periods of my life. After praying to Odin for guidance, this book appeared on my Instagram feed — and I knew it was what I had been looking for.
Alexander is a great teacher. You can ask him anything, and he is always there to help. It is rare to see an author so open and present for his readers, and I truly appreciate that. He is a true son of the gods. I highly recommend this book to all witches and wizards who wish to read a powerful and authentic piece of Old Norse-inspired art."

A Deeply Healing and Transformative Reading
I recently came out of what I now understand was a very toxic five-year relationship. After it ended, I felt that a part of me — a very important part — had been lost somewhere along the way. As the days passed, I started to feel better, but something was still missing. Then I discovered The Shaman of the North, and I immediately felt drawn to it. I decided to buy it. While reading the passage where Alexander explains how alcohol can awaken the inner animal, a powerful memory suddenly resurfaced. I saw with new eyes a night that I now realize was the last time I was truly connected to my inner wolf. In that moment, everything began to make sense — why things had unfolded the way they did. As I kept reading, I relived every detail. When the book described the sensation of awakening one’s inner animal, I felt it again: the taste of blood in my mouth, the instinct to hunt, a surge of raw energy. For the first time in three years, I felt the wolf inside me awaken. For years, I could sense it was there, but dormant — asleep. Now I understand that during this relationship, I lost a part of myself. Worse, I hid it, denied it, even against my own will. This book helped me understand what was wrong and guided me back to myself. I was lost, and thanks to this book, I have found my lifelong companion again.
So yes — I owe you a very big thank you.
